Bon Voyage Party & Pooped Packers

The Bon Voyage Party was very bitter sweet.  It was really great to get to see our friends in once place!  But to know it was the last time we would see them for a while was difficult.  Both sets of my parents showed up and seemed to enjoy getting to see our friends.

After days of packing, we are both pooped and ready to just be done with it already.  There is stuff all over the house, not where it belongs, it is driving me nuts.  I am not an OCD clean freak by any means, but I do think that things have their place.  And after a while of the house being a mess I have to go nuts and clean it well!

Tonight is the last night we will spend in our first home.  I am sad to leave our little love nest.  We fell in love here, parented a dog here, and came here after our wedding.  We have shared lots of laughs, tears, and friends here.  It will be sad to lock the door and not come back.  I would feel this way even if we where not moving across the country.  Moving across town would be just as sad to me.

Dinner tonight will be great!  We have two lobster tails, shrimp, and a bottle of wine.  Going out in Rich style seems like the thing to do.  Friday we will be staying with Mom and then getting up around 5:30am and hitting the road. I will post more from the road...stay tuned!

A Quick Update

Nothing really new has happened since my last post, with the exception of today.  Scott and I were starting to go stir crazy waiting to hear back from the apartment community and staring at the same four walls all day long.

Yesterday we decided to go to the pool for a couple hours a day.  It was nice to get to do that.  I have never really been able to go to the pool here, because I was always stuck inside doing homework.  It was really hot, so about every 20 minutes or so we went and got in the pool to cool down.  So, we didn't get much sun.  Trying to fix a "farmer's tan" is harder than I thought it would be.

The biggest development today is that a consignment shop in town came and got our dinning room table, a dresser, and my sofa.  I have had that sofa for like 7 years and it's pretty crappy, but the guy seems to think that we will be able to get around $250...which would be cool because my mom paid $300 for it.

Whiskey didn't know what to think about the guys taking our stuff.  He gathered all his stuffed animals in the living room. It was so cute! I think he is getting worried and nervous about all of this stuff that is going on around here.

Tomorrow is going to be a tough day.  My Nana's birthday lunch is tomorrow, my Dad's side of the family will be there.  Also, our going away party is tomorrow night too.  I will update about that and the tears that were shed.

Packing Up the Apartment

I should introduce myself, I am Megan.  My husband's name is Scott and we have a 2 year old dog named Whiskey.  Scott was born and live in the Seattle area for about 25 years.  After some more years of doing other things life brought him to Alabama.  Where he met me, a Southern native.  I have always lived in the same general area.  After figuring out what a great gal I was, he bought a dog.  I think this was to keep me around.  Well it worked, we have been married for just over a year now.

After some things seem to be falling into place we have decided to pack up our apartment and the dog, and take a 4 days road trip and move to Seattle.  This blog will be about our adventure on the open road and how this Southern girl will make it in the big city!  I hope you will take this ride with us. It will be a great one I am sure!

Packing up the apartment is going better than expected!  Scott and I went to Wal-Mart and purchased some small boxes, packing paper, and bubble wrap.  These few boxes only contain the glassware and shot glasses we have accumulated over the last 3 years.  Since we obviously needed more boxes I went digging through the trash...yes that's right, I went dumpster diving.  We live right behind a T. J. Maxx.  They get delivers every other day, I stopped paying attention really.  I didn't get in the dumpster, I tried not to touch it, to get the boxes.  These hold vastly more stuff than the others.  So, back to the dumpster I will go.

Whiskey did not understand why we rearranged the dinning room and dismantling the dinning room table.  He had this look of panic and confusion on his face.  I am sure he will be quite confused for a long while.  We are taking him away from everything he knows.  But, we are going to try and make this as painless as possible for him.  Since we are going in hubby's car, he will be able to have his own bed in the back seat.  He also has two stuff animals that he loves and they will be able to ride with him too.  Thankfully we will not have to stop too many times for him to eat, drink, and do is business.  This will give us a chance to break up the driving and walk around a bit.

I guess I better get going and start sorting and packing!
